Create production materials for a customized order

So you have received an order from a customer. Depending on your product and production process, you will need the customization in a different format.
The first step would be to open the “Orders” tab in the Fancy Product Designer app. Here you will see this screen:

With a click on the order, you can open a list of all items in that order and by clicking on the eye symbol on a specific item, the app will open the details of that product with all the customization details:

In this detail screen, it’s possible to manage the layers or edit the printing box if something is missing or doesn’t suit your needs. Don't worry about making changes here. The changes you make will show in the export, but will not be saved so if something goes wrong you can just reopen the product.

At the top of the page, you can see the Print-Ready and Basic export options.

All our subscription plans include the option for the Print-Ready-Export. With it, you can select either PNG, JPEG, PDF, or a zip file with the PDF + Font Files or with the PDF + Custom Images. Other features are:

• Defining a printing area with a printing box
• Defining any size for the exported printing area (A1, A2... or a custom size in MM)
• Embedded Fonts
• Excluding layers from export
• Exporting to JPEG or PNG in any DPI

Also, it would be possible to custom develop more functionality for you (at extra costs), i.e. as soon as you receive an order from a customer, the system automatically sends the customized product as a print-ready file to the Site Owner or it can also be sent automatically to the customer as soon as the order is paid.

In the basic export, the features are:

• Rescaling the exported format
• Excluding layers from export

Additionally, output details (measurements and used colors) as well as a list of the added customization materials are located on the right side of the page. Added images can be exported separately here.

By downloading the file(s), you make the files available on your computer to give them to the printer or make them available for whatever step comes next in your production process.

Instead of downloading every file by hand, the app can also store the print-ready file in your cloud storage automatically as soon as an order is received (part of the “Automatic Pro Export” feature). You can set this up under Settings → Advanced → Pro Export. In the “Pro Export - Cloud Storage” section, select Dropbox (or AWS S3) as your cloud provider and connect your account.

In the “Configuration” section of the same tab, you choose how the files are generated. With “File Format” you pick PDF, PNG, JPEG, SVG, or one of the ZIP options. With “File Name” you build the name of the exported file from placeholders: Order ID, Order Name, Line Item ID, Line Item Index, Product Name, Product SKU, Customization Name, and Quantity. Just click a variable to insert it, and a live preview below the field shows you an example of the resulting file name.

For Dropbox, the “File Name” pattern also controls the folder your files land in: every “/” you type in the pattern creates a subfolder. A pattern like orders/{{order_shopify_name}}/{{product_sku}} for example stores each file in a folder per order and product. If your pattern contains no slashes, the app keeps the previous behavior and turns the first underscore into a folder, so the default pattern {{order_id}}_{{line_item_id}} still gives you one folder per order.

The uploaded file is always named after the actual exported file. If a multi-view PNG or JPEG export is delivered as a single ZIP archive, for example, the file in your Dropbox will be a correctly named .zip file.
