AI Tools in the Product Designer

Fancy Product Designer includes three AI-powered tools that your customers can use directly in the designer. These tools are separate from the AI Customization Creator, which is a backend tool for store owners.

Setting Up AI Features

All three AI tools require Designer Version 2.0 and must be enabled in your settings before customers can access them.

Activate Designer Version 2.0:

  1. Go to Global Settings > Shopify > Frontend Script Version.
  2. Select "Version 2.0."

Enable AI features:

  1. Go to Global Settings > Advanced > AI Service.
  2. Toggle on each feature you want to make available to your customers.

Text-Based Image Generation

Text-based image generation lets customers create images from a text description. Images are generated with AI and can be placed directly on the product canvas.

This tool is part of the Image Module, not a standalone module.

To use it:

  1. Open the Image Module in the designer.
  2. Select the text-to-image tool.
  3. Enter a description of the image you want, for example: "a golden retriever on a sunny beach."
  4. Click "Generate."
  5. Click any result to load it onto the canvas.

Background Removal

Background removal lets customers automatically remove the background from any uploaded image. It works best with images that have a clear foreground subject, such as a person, animal, or object.

Important: In addition to enabling the toggle in the AI Service settings, you need to activate "Advanced Editing" separately. Go to Global Settings > Element Properties > Custom Images and enable "Advanced Editing" at the bottom of the page.

Once both settings are active, customers can use the feature as follows:

  1. Upload an image in the designer.
  2. Select the image on the canvas.
  3. Click "Remove Background" in the toolbar.

Image Upscaling

Image upscaling improves the resolution of uploaded images that do not meet printing requirements. If a customer uploads a low-resolution image, a warning appears automatically at the top of the canvas.

To upscale an image:

  1. Upload an image in the designer.
  2. If the resolution is too low, a warning banner appears at the top of the canvas.
  3. Click the button in the banner to start upscaling.

Usage and Availability

All three AI tools are available on every subscription plan. They are subject to a fair use policy with a combined limit of 5,000 requests per month across all AI features.
