So you have installed the Fancy Product Designer app in your Shopify store. What comes next? The first step would be to integrate the designer into your shop. To enable you to see the designer in action even before you have created your own customization or without creating a customization at all, we have installed some preset customizations out of which you can choose. These are preset, ready-to-use customizations that can be used to understand how a fancy customization should be built or that can be used straight away in your shop.

To choose a preset customization, you have to select the Customizations tab and click on “Customization Library”. The library will open:

With “Create Customization” you select a customization that will then appear in your “Customizations” section as a newly created customization.

Now it’s time to link this customization to one of your Shopify products because until now, it just lives inside the app and cannot be seen in your shop. To link it, select the “Shopify Products” tab and choose one of your products to link an Assigned Customization (1.) to. For now, the source should be the customization we have created a moment ago. To see the designer in action, click on the icon under 2.) to get to the frontend of this product in your shop.

Create your own Fancy Customization

You have understood how to create a fancy customization from a template and how to link it with one of your Shopify products. Now you want to start creating your own customizations so that your customers can personalize your own products.

The process is similar to template creation. Switch to the “Customizations” tab and click on “Add Product”. Insert the title you want to give your first fancy customization and click “Confirm”.

If you want, you can hover over the thumbnail to insert an image of the product you want to create to make it easier to find it in the list afterward. You can either choose a previously uploaded image or upload a new one:

After your first product is created, you have to create the views of it in order to have something to show in the designer. You decide how many views you want to create, which depends on the structure of your product. To create the first view, click the first button on the right side:

Customization Profiles allow you to fine-tune the settings of each product individually, while still keeping a structured hierarchy through inherited profiles. This feature gives you maximum flexibility in customizing your product designs and options.

What are Customization Profiles?

Customization Profiles are a new way to manage settings in Fancy Product Designer:

Per-Product Settings: You can assign specific settings to individual products, tailoring the customization experience to fit each one.
Inherited Settings: Profiles can inherit from a parent profile, allowing you to set common options once and reuse them across multiple products.
Auto-Migration of Existing Settings: Your existing global product settings are automatically converted into product-specific customization profiles — no manual adjustments needed.

How It Works

Create a Customization Profile

Create Profile First, go to the Customization Profiles section in the Settings section of the app backend.

Choose to create a new profile or edit an existing one.

Assign Settings

Customize only the settings you want to override for this profile.

Leave other settings untouched — they will inherit from the parent profile or the general settings.

Our 3D Model Preview lets you offer customers an interactive, 3D representation of your customizable products. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know, from uploading 3D models to integrating the preview into your Shopify store products.

Required 3D Model File Structure for Integration with the App

There are many different file formats available for 3D model making. For the 3D Model Preview in our app, we use FBX files for the model itself and HDR files for the environmental lighting. To properly work with our app’s structure, the FBX model file needs to meet specific structural requirements regarding the meshes (the triangular structures that create the 3D elements). Here's what you need to know:

File Structure Requirements:

Base Mesh Structure: This represents the overall structure of the product. It can be just one mesh creating the whole product structure or a combination of multiple meshes if this will work better for your product structure.
Customization Mesh (Custom Area): The parts of the product that should show the customized areas will need additional meshes for each view of the customization you are planning. The first of these meshes needs to be named “custom” s

Change how the Fancy Product Designer looks

So, you are starting to understand the Fancy Product Designer, maybe you have already created your first customization. But you don’t like the look of the Designer in the frontend. We can change that in the Appearance tab in the app. Let’s make it as simple and clean as possible and assume you don't need any of the Modules and Actions for your products, either because you only use Upload Zones or because you want to place the Modules directly on the product page. This would mean you don’t need any of the Modules or Actions that you can see in the default UI Layout. So our final goal would look like this:

To achieve this goal we will have to remove all the Modules and Actions and also the Mainbar and the Actionsbar from the Layout. But first you need to use "Save as New" and name your own default UI.

Modules:

Let’s remove the Modules first. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and choose the Modules tab. On the left, you can see all the Modules that are active right now. To remove them you just need to click the "x" on each of them.
