Choosing the right image format for product customization

Our product designer supports SVG, PNG, and JPEG image formats. Each format works best in different situations. Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right one:

  • Best for: Logos, icons, graphics with editable colors
  • Why use it: SVG files are lightweight, look sharp on all screens, and allow individual parts of a design to be recolored.
  • Extra benefit: Our designer can recognize separate paths in the SVG, so customers can easily customize the colors of different elements.

Use SVG whenever you want flexible, high-quality customization and color changes.

PNG

  • Best for: Graphics with transparency when SVG is not available
  • Why use it: PNGs can support color customization, but they’re more limited and may affect browser performance with large files.
  • Important note: Coloring large PNGs may cause slowdowns, and you will need to use PNG files below 2000x2000px to ensure proper coloring.

Use PNG only if SVG is not an option.

JPEG

  • Best for: Product images and backgrounds
  • Why use it: JPEGs are great for displaying detailed images, but cannot support transparent backgrounds or recoloring.
  • Limitation: There will be no coloring option available for JPEG files.

Use JPEG for photos or when no color customization or transparency is needed.
